About Karen's Math Tutoring
Karen Trochlil graduated with honors from West Virginia University, earning a BS in education with a specialization in middle school math. With over 20 years experience, Karen's teaching and tutoring career includes math grades 4 to 9, and Algebra I. As an Edyth May Sliffe award-winning teacher at the gifted magnet school Ligon Middle School in Raleigh, NC, she also coached the state champions of the Mathcounts competition. During her tenure, her team of students placed in the top 3 at the State of NC Algebra I Contest for three consecutive years. Karen also taught at Statesville Road Elementary in Charlotte, NC and with Fairfax County Schools at Irving Middle School in Springfield, VA.
Raised in West Virginia, Karen has been living in the DC metro area for 20 years. She has 23 nieces and nephews (many of whom she has tutored!) and was a volunteer tutor with AHC’s Teen Tutoring Program in Arlington. She spends much of her free time traveling with friends and family.
